John Overton HS Alumni Association website was created to communicate the Alumni Association's activities:

In fostering ongoing relationships of our Alumni

In preserving the history of the school and our graduates.
An Overton "Hall of Fame" committee was established and began the work of determining our first class of inductees. Then the task of locating these exceptional Bobcats began. The first "Hall of Fame" award ceremony is confirmed for April 18, 2026.
Mary Lou Snyder (former teacher) and Lori Bervoets (Overton librarian ) asked us to join them in having the Overton property officially designated as an arboretum. As of October 2025 the trees are planted, the trees have been tagged and we're awaiting the final approval.
We began our regular gathering of all Overton Alumni with social events that will be held every Spring, Summer and Fall.
Our illustrious leader, Tom Moore, departed our Board. We began a reorganization and a plan for how to move forward productively for the school and for our Alumni
A new Board was established and new members joined the Board.
Meetings were held with Dr. Garner and other school representatives to determine our best way to serve everyone concerned.
January 2020 - In coordination with Board Member Tom Moore, MNPS added concrete block dugouts for home and visitors.

Hosted Part 2: A Murder in Music City with Michael Bishop
In coordination with Board Member Tom Moore, the Nashville Sounds adopted the Overton Softball field and dedicated employee time, equipment, and additional expertise to improve the field.
Meet and greet with Michael Bishop, author of “A Murder in Music City” at Overton where we honored the class of 1963
Participated in the Overton Trivia Challenge benefiting Overton’s Girls Athletic Program
Attended Reunion Events to allow Alumni the opportunity to become Charter members
Participated in various Overton Open House events to raise awareness of our organization and our mission
Held our first membership meeting and elected a Board of Directors
Gained official recognition as a Nonprofit Organization
In coordination with Board Member Tom Moore, the school installed scoreboards, cleaned out the infield, installed a permanent fence and improved the foul poles. A donation to the Alumni Association from Bobby Hite provided much needed grass seed and fertilizer for Soccer and Softball Fields.
Held our first membership drive and began meetings to form the alumni association
Held a Membership drive at the Overton Homecoming game
Had a strong presence at the first “JOHS Open House” that welcomed the entire community to showcase the third year of a four year plan to completely renovate the school.
